More Silversmithing

I wanted to have a go at setting a bezel on a pendant and here’s what I came up with:

I really wish that when I’m having a go at these new techniques that I work on something a bit larger.

The glass stone in the setting is only about 3mm across which shows just how small and fiddly this was. Oh making the bezel itself really drove me to distraction. I ended up buying a special bezel trivet (ring stick) so I had something small to shape the bezel with.

The Pendant itself was just a cut-out circle of sterling silver which I then had at with with my teeny tiny planishing hammer.

(Note for next time: trying to solder onto a bobbly surface is much harder than you’d think. Don’t planish the bit you want to solder your bezel to to make your life easier)

What do you think of it?
